Acne is an inflammatory skin disease that affects millions of individuals. The most universal type of acne is known as “common acne”. Acne is caused when too many oils are secreted from the glands and those oils mix with dead skin cells, blocking the hair follicles. More oil secretions increase underneath the already blocked follicles (or pores), and skin bacteria begin to grow rapidly. This leads to red and irritated skin that most often appears as bumps on the skin’s surface. Any skin surface of the body is susceptible to acne, but it most commonly (and heavily) appears on the face, chest, back, and upper arm region. Acne commonly begins to occur during puberty due to an irregular response by the body to regular levels of testosterone, a male hormone. Often, acne begins to subside or disappear altogether by the mid 20′s. However, some individuals do suffer with it throughout adulthood. And some adults do not even see the onset of acne until well into the adult years. This is known as adult onset acne. Acne can leave scarring on the skin, as well as have a scarring effect on a person’s self-esteem, and even lead to depression. Because society can be so unforgiving about appearances, there are various medically prescribed treatments available, as well as acne skin care regimens that can be utilized in order to minimize the symptoms of acne.

Different things cause acne for different sufferers. A few of the recognized causes of acne include heredity, hormonal activity (puberty, menstruation, pregnancy), stress, certain medications, and skin irritation. All of these things have the potential to cause acne, as well as exacerbate it. There are a few myths regarding acne. For instance we’ve all heard of a mom telling her child not to eat too many greasy foods like French fries, or eat too many sweets, because it will give him or her pimples. That is simply an old wives’ tale. Diet does not cause acne, and does not affect it. Also, poor hygiene has no bearing on the occurrence of acne. Acne is not caused by dirt, and having poor hygiene habits will not aggravate the condition. There are many treatments for acne available, both through prescription, and over the counter. There are antibiotics in the form of pills, as well as topical creams that are designed to treat the condition. Exfoliation can be used as a treatment to remove and prevent the build up of dead skin cells. And light therapy is being used more and more to treat acne. It is important to consult a dermatologist in order to determine the best course of treatment and learn the best regimen of acne skin care to carry out.

Dealing with the occurrence of acne requires knowing how to properly care for the skin. Acne skin care can help keep the problem from getting worse, and even alleviate it. It is important to gently wash the skin at least twice a day with a gentle skin cleanser. Do not scrub with a rough pad or use a rough soap. This will make the acne problem worse. And always completely rinse the skin after cleansing. As part of an acne skin care routine, it is important to remember not to touch the afflicted skin areas. Do not try to squeeze acne. An infection could occur, compounding the problem, and scarring could result. Also, avoid the sun when possible. Wear protective clothing to avoid tanning or burning. The skin will age faster, and any fading effect of the acne is temporary and will become visible again when the burn or tan fades. When using cosmetics, take care to use oil-free products, and products that are non-comedogenic (won’t clog the pores). And for men who shave their faces, it is important to shave very carefully. Shave with a light hand to avoid cutting or nicking the blemishes. If these steps in acne skin care are taken, the pain and embarrassment of the problem can be alleviated, and over time, eliminated completely.

Skin Care For Acne

Acne or pimples, as some people call them, is a very common problem amongst the youngsters. With the help of anti aging tips and acne skin care products you can clear the acne on your face as well as prevent them from coming back.

Here are some things, that people whose skin is prone to acne, should stay away from:

  • Products which contain scrubbing particles should not be used on an acne prone skin. These particles irritate the skin and make the acne worse.
  • Avoid hair care that contains oil that can clog the skin pores and cause acne.
  • Many people try to pop the pimple to get rid of it. Doing this could irritate the skin and worsen the acne. Moreover, popping the pimple could leave a scar even after the acne has healed.
  • Skin care products that contain oil should be avoided. Due to the excess of oil the pimples come out. More oil will clog the pores and worsen the acne.
  • Some people rub alcohol on the acne affected area to dry out the oil in the pimples. This does not help to clear the acne; instead it irritates the skin and results in more pimple break outs.
  • Tanning damages the skin. Use sunscreen lotions when you go out.
  • Throughout the day your hand touches all sorts of things, touching your face very often can increase the acne problem or even cause pimple break outs.

Here are some tips for acne skin care :

  • Wash: You should wash your skin twice a day, after exercising, with lukewarm water and a wild soap. Do not scrub the soap on your face to remove the acne. Gently massage the soap with the help of your fingertips in circular motion. Over washing and scrubbing will cause irritation in the skin. After washing, apply a moisturizing lotion which contains benzoyl peroxide. This will wash off the oil and bacteria which are causing the acne.
  • Popping: Whatever you do, don’t try to pop the pimples to get rid of them. Popping the pimples might push the infected pus further into the skin and thus causing more swelling. There are chances of the pimples leaving a scar even after they are healed, if popped.
  • Touching: Your fingers collect all sorts of dirt and sebum. Touching your face can infect the uninfected areas as well and cause the skin pores to inflate and get irritated. Wash your hands before you touch your face or apply any skin care products or makeup.
  • Glasses: Another acne skin care tip is to clean your sun glasses frequently. This avoids the oil from clogging the skin pores situated around your eyes and nose.
  • Clothes: Avoid tight clothes in case you have pimples on your body. Tight clothes don’t allow the skin to breathe and thus may cause irritation around the infected area.

Men also face acne problem. Here are some acne care tips for men to follow:

  • Wet your face with lukewarm water before you shave. This prevents irritation in the skin after shaving.
  • Always check if your blade is sharp or not before you shave. This prevents cuts from the razor which could irritate the skin and lead to pimples.
  • Do not press the razors too hard on your skin. Shave lightly; this avoids the cuts in the acne lesions which could make the acne worse.
  • Some men try to shave off the acne. This should not be done, as it is the same as popping the pimple and could lead to infecting other areas as well.

Skin Care Moisturizer Cream

Skin care moisturizer cream is just the thing you need to help prevent new wrinkles, reduce the appearance of the wrinkles you have, and help heal sun damaged skin. Whether you struggle with dry skin, combination skin, oily skin, acne, or some other type of skin condition, there is a moisturizer that is made just for you. The only challenge is finding the right moisturizer for you and knowing what to look for. It’s all about getting the details right — what types of moisturizer are best for you and how often to apply them. Luckily for you, we’ve got the scoop on the best moisturizers for your needs. Water Based Moisturizers are a No-No When purchasing moisturizer cream, many women simply do not stop and look at the ingredients. Often women are attracted to a pretty box or a pretty jar with a fancy sounding name without realizing that many of the moisturizers out there contain up to 40% water. Other women make the mistake of going with a water based moisturizer, thinking that water is the most natural moisturizer in the world and that it should do wonders for their skin. Strangely enough, that is not the case.

Different all natural ingredients, like Aloe Vera, are better suited for a moisturizer for the face, especially for those looking for anti aging or anti wrinkle benefits. It may not seem like it but water based moisturizers are a recipe for disaster when it comes to dry skin. They dry out your skin even more as opposed to adding much needed moisture. Consider the Benefits of Natural Aloe Vera Aloe Vera based creams are different and for those who have only used water based products or for those looking for a change in their present moisturizing routine, this is the best and only alternative. A few of the skin care moisturizer cream products even contain essential fatty acids and other ingredients that actually imitate the natural actions and compositions of your skin. These special ingredients work wonders against drying and breakouts, and makes it easier for the ingredients to be absorbed into the skin. Aloe Vera itself is 100 percent natural, coming straight from the plant of the same name and is known for its healing benefits to damaged skin.

How Often is Too Often? Depending on your skin and its makeup, you never know how much to moisturize until you figure out what is best for you. If you have normal skin, moisturizing once a day should be sufficient, but if you have dry skin or skin with a condition you may want to consider moisturizing twice daily — once during the morning hours and once before bed. Be sure to follow the directions that are specified on the back of moisturizer box or jar for best results and remember that not all moisturizers are created equal. Some of them have specific instructions and are designed to treat different skin conditions so be sure to read the label carefully. Some moisturizers have natural oils, vitamins, lipids, and other ingredients that are designed to smooth and beautify your skin. Be warned that chemicals have been added to other moisturizer creams and these should be strictly avoided. How do you know which is the best skin care moisturizer cream for you? In all reality, there is no “one size fits all.” Everyone has a different type of skin and unfortunately there is a bit of trial and error that you must go through. You have to find out the hard way sometimes but often you can take shortcuts by getting recommendations from other women with skin similar to yours. Remember though that just because a particular product works for someone else does not necessarily mean that it will work for you. One thing you can be sure of though is that it is pretty hard to go wrong with an aloe vera based moisturizer.

Aloe Vera can heal damaged skin, moisturize, and even provide some anti aging benefits as well. Plus it doesn’t dry out the skin like water based moisturizers do…and it should go without saying that dry skin is much more prone to wrinkles than hydrated, moisturized skin. The benefits of Aloe Vera are endless and no matter what type of skin you have, you should be able to enjoy the benefits of this all natural ingredient that was discovered more than 3,500 years ago and that is still being used today. An Aloe Vera based moisturizer can help give you healthier, more beautiful skin no matter what kind of skin you have and no matter how much sun damage you have. Be sure to read the label before buying any moisturizer cream and always, always, always demand an Aloe Vera based moisturizer.

Vitamin A-Skin Care or Careless?

Among the more effective anti-aging skin care products, we find Tretinoin, Retinol, and Retinyl Palmitate. These are all forms of vitamin A or derivatives thereof. The most significant of them is Tretinoin (retinoic acid). It is found in vegetables such as carrots and spinach. Tretinoin is used extensively in the treatment of acne and increasingly used in anti-aging regimens. Vitamin A is readily absorbed by the skin and stimulates production of new skin cells and as a result increases collagen production. Collagen being responsible for the fuller, firmer, and younger looking skin.

Being the strongest of the Vitamin A treatments, Trentinoin can treat some of the most stubborn skin conditions, but is also the most irritating of the products. When using any of these vitamin A treatments, if your skin becomes irritated, stop using the product to avoid further damaging the skin. Vitamin A in all its forms increases sensitivity to the sun. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Retinol, while not as strong as Tretinoin is found mostly in anti-aging or skin rejuvenation products. It is found in the same vegetables as any other Vitamin A treatment, but is not as easily absorbed into the skin. Its popularity among anti-aging products is due to the fact that one can start with a mild form of it and gradually increase the dose, thereby avoiding the irritation encountered with the stronger forms of vitamin A.

Retinyl Palmitate has not been as extensively tested as the other two, but shows promise of being a preferred replacement for Tretinoin since it can be formulated as a non-irritating alternative.

It concerns me that so many of the available skin care products are irritating to the skin. It sounds like a loud statement in favor of the natural products. I have trouble using the terms “skin care” and “irritation” together. It seems to me the two should be mutually exclusive. Too many people have the attitude that it has to hurt to be any good. Personally, I think if it is any harsher than soap and water, it doesn’t need to be in contact with your skin. I know that when people are desperate to change something, they will try anything. Unfortunately, too many of the things they try are strictly experimental. Some of the experiments turn out to be beneficial, but all to often the results are unpleasant. That’s to be expected when acting without information.

Stay informed! Moderation in all things(even moderation).
